Use Piply in ChatGPT
Connect Piply to ask ChatGPT about your own course materials and request quizzes, flashcards or notes. Ask it to use Piply’s tools, check the source references and confirm any saved result in Piply. Attachment import requires ChatGPT to make the file available to Piply; otherwise save extracted text or upload it in Piply.
https://api.piply.ai/mcp Save the PDF I just attached to my Biology course, then make a 50-question quiz on it.
Illustrative prompt. After connecting, check the source references and any saved result in Piply. This example is not a record of a completed tool call.
Account access and review
Sign-in authorizes the connection to your Piply account under the permissions you approve. Asking about one file does not restrict access to that file. Review the host’s tool controls and check generated content against your materials. Disconnecting does not retract information already sent to the host.
What you need
- ChatGPT on the web with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education; workspace admins may restrict Developer mode.
- A Piply account (free).
Connect Piply to ChatGPT
Documentation checked . Official setup documentation.
- 1 Open ChatGPT on the web. In Settings, choose Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- 2 Open Plugins at chatgpt.com/plugins. Use the plus button to create a developer-mode app.
- 3 Name it Piply, enter https://api.piply.ai/mcp and choose OAuth. Use automatic client registration if the form asks how to register the client.
- 4 Sign in to Piply and approve access. The developer-mode app appears under Drafts.
- 5 In a chat, open the plus menu, choose Developer mode and select Piply. Ask: What can Piply do here?
Workspace administrators can restrict Developer mode or custom apps. These steps cover the web developer-mode setup, rather than a published directory plugin.
If Piply changes its tools, open the app details and refresh the app to load the current tool list.
Attached-file imports depend on ChatGPT making the file available to Piply's import tool. If it cannot access the attachment, ask it to save the extracted text instead.
What ChatGPT can do with Piply
These tasks need a client that can call the relevant Piply tools and your approved permissions. Saving requires a course you created; shared and public courses are read-only. Ask the host to use Piply, then check its response and any saved result.
- Find source material Search course materials and request page references you can check.
- Make and save quizzes Request a quiz from selected pages, then check its questions and saved lessons in Piply.
- Save flashcards Successfully saved flashcard sets join spaced-repetition reviews in Piply. Ask the host to save the set and check its link.
- Save study resources Request study notes, mind maps, word searches or anagram games and check the saved result.
- Check review priorities Request due reviews, recorded weak topics and Piply’s suggested next study step.
- Add course materials Save text as material. File import needs a supported host attachment or upload workflow.

Questions
Does connecting limit which tools ChatGPT can use?
Review the app's tool list and turn off tools you do not want it to use. Connecting authorizes access to your Piply account; it does not promise that the model will only request a particular file.
Can I upload a PDF in ChatGPT and keep it in Piply?
Ask ChatGPT to import the attachment into your course. This needs the host to expose the attached file to Piply's import tool. If it cannot, save extracted text or upload the file in Piply.
